One of the greatest things we can do is learn from our mistakes, and this is especially true when it comes to dancing. When dancing, our mistakes show us what are boundaries are and highlight opportunities for us to improve within new areas, and the mistakes that occur can actually be very helpful and positive, to know where you have potential, allowing you to advance your learning in a new direction.
There are many mistakes that can be made while dancing, and that is not something you need to be afraid of! However, Arthur Murray Dance Studio has gathered some tips that you can utilize to help you avoid some dancing mistakes, so be sure to continue reading for some great insight:
- Too little dancing. the more we do something the more our muscles remember how to do it on their own. Dancing is a fun activity that we can enjoy, and that our muscles will love to remember doing. Then the “practice makes perfect” factor takes effect as well, meaning that the more you dance, the more you will remember the moves, perfect your steps and even become more advanced with your skills. Even if you take classes, it is recommended that you go out dancing at least once a week, or even while at home, to keep the momentum going, allowing you to gain even more experience.
- Taking it too seriously. Dancing is a fun way for people to stay in shape and maybe even meet some new friends, so the last thing you want to do is take all of the fun out of it by taking it too seriously. It is understandable that you will want to pick up the steps as quickly as possible, but we all have our own learning curve. Do not beat yourself up because you feel like you are not learning the steps as fast as you would like, as being too hard on yourself and getting frustrated can take the fun out of dancing and even make it harder for you to learn. So, relax and just have fun with it, as it should be an enjoyable task, not a chore.
- Fear. Life is full of mistakes, so it is important to realize that not one single person can go through life without making one. Mistakes are not the end of the world, so when you are learning your dance steps or practicing your moves and you happen to make a mistake, just brush it off and move on, or, you can even incorporate your “mistake” into your dance routine, creating a whole new move. No matter how skilled of a dancer you are, mistakes will happen, and it is best to embrace them and happily continue on with your dancing.
There is so much fun to be had while dancing; You can allow your body to get moving, keep yourself healthy and active, learn a few impressive moves, maybe make a few friends and it will even boost your mood. Here at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, our goal is to help you to embrace dancing, so regardless of what style you would enjoy dancing to, we will have a wonderful lesson to accommodate it, so be sure to contact us today to begin your California classes.
