If you take part in dance, chances are you will have a dance partner! Dancing with others is a great way to expand your skills as well as make new friends. There is such fun to be discovered when dancing with a partner, as it allows you to enjoy a fun hobby with others.
While you may know just how to dance, there are actually some things that your dance partner will want to see from you as you dance together.
Dancing is such a passion to all of us here at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. That’s why we have gathered some of the top things that your dance partner will want to see from you. If you are interested in learning more, be sure to continue reading:
- Show up on time. First off, if you are taking part in dance classes, lessons, or just meeting up with your partner to have a great time, you will want to be on time! Showing up on time shows your partner that you respect them, and that you are excited to take part in dancing with them. If, however, you will be late, be sure to contact your partner as soon as possible.
- Be prepared. Your partner came to dance! Therefore, you should be prepared and ready to hit the dance floor. As you arrive, it is best that you are hydrated, dressed appropriately, and even have your stretches completed, so that you and your partner can spend as much time dancing without any breaks.
- Don’t criticize them. When dancing, we all must learn. If your partner reflects less experience than you, it is important to not criticize them. Remember, you were once in the same position of learning as well. Instead, dance at their level, or teach them in a way that you can provide positivity, rather than a “schooling” experience. Everyone wants to have fun, and your partner certainly won’t want to feel as though they are holding you back.
It is important to show your partner the utmost respect as you dance together. If you are ready to take part in our Sherman Oaks, California dance classes, please feel free to get in touch with us today.
