Top Things Your Dance Instructor Wants to See from You

Taking dance classes will be a wonderful experience for not only you, but your dance instructor too! After all, they have such a passion for dance, and certainly enjoying being able to assist others with evolving out on the dance floor.

However, there are some things that your dance instructor will want to see from you. Are you aware of what they are?

We want everyone to strive out on the dance floor! That’s why, here at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, we have comprised some of the top things that your dance instructor wants to see from you. If you are all set to learn what they are, be sure to continue reading:

  • They Want You to Share Your Experience. When taking dance classes, your instructor will want to know how experienced you are when it comes to dancing. This way, they can ensure that they are teaching you in the best way possible for your skill level. By sharing what you are comfortable with, or areas that you would like to improve or advance in, you and your instructor can work together to achieve your goals.
  • They Want You to Let Them Teach. If you are dancing around others, you may feel the need to provide constructive criticism at times, or you may even take in constructive criticism given to you the wrong way. However, it’s important to remember that the role of your instructor is to assist you and others with improving your skills out on the dance floor. Everyone will dance at their own pace, and your instructor will be aware of how to best teach each individual within your class. So, let your instructor provide the notes as needed, and know that they are only trying to assist everyone with receiving the best information as necessary.
  • They Don’t Want You to Compare Yourself to Others. With an array of others within your dance class, it can be all too easy to compare your dancing skills to theirs. This is the last thing that your dance teacher will want you to do, as it could put a damper on your time spent out on the dance floor! If you feel as though you are a little behind the crowd, that’s alright! Everyone dances at their own pace. You need to be confident in yourself and your skills out on the dance floor. So, don’t compare yourself to others, and just focus on your own goals to achieve.

You should experience a great deal of fun while out on the dance floor! These are just a few things that your dance instructor will want to see from you, so that you can truly enjoy your experience.
