Dance moves are a wonderful way to showcase your experience out on the dance floor. With many dance styles that you could take part in, there are so many options for creativity and fun when taking part in such a fun hobby.
While you may think that dance is just one simple style, think again! In fact, that are many wonderful dance moves that you will have the opportunity to present from many different styles.
Here at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, we love how versatile dance is! That’s why we have gathered some of the top moves that you can showcase when out on the dance floor. To learn what these moves are, be sure to continue reading:
- Foxtrot’s Magic Left Turn. The Foxtrot is a wonderful dance to take part in, as it is the perfect complement to any social dancing event. This style has a dance move that is known as the “magic left turn”, due to the way that it is presented. You can compare this dance move to a 3-point turn in a car, as you pull forward, back out in reverse, and then move forward again at a different angle. Pretty simple, right?
- Waltz’s Side Hesitation. One of the easiest patterns that the Waltz presents is the “side hesitation”. The side hesitation is not only great for presenting during mid-dance, but it is also an ideal pattern to begin with. Showcasing a side to side movement, the leader can establish a neutral territory with their partner, even before the dance begins.
- The Cha-Cha’s Cuban Basic. A crowded dance floor is most often where you will see the Cha-Cha presented. Therefore, the “Cuban Basic” is an ideal move to showcase. By dancing rock steps, the couple can take up less space out on the dance floor, conserve energy, and regain composure, rather than always moving North, South, East, and West to a quick tempo with fast footwork.
