Tips for Choosing the Best Shoes for Your Dance Classes

Dance classes are so much fun! As you get to embark on a wonderful journey out on the dance floor. Making new friends, getting some exercise, improving your health; there are so many benefits to the wonderful hobby of dance!

However, when dancing, you will be on your feet. Therefore, you will want to ensure that you experience optimum comfort! And, with the right shoes, you can! But, how do you go about choosing the perfect shoes for your hobby?

We believe that everyone should be comfortable out on the dance floor! That’s why, here at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, we have gathered some tips for choosing the shoes for your own dance classes. If you are all set to gain some great insight, be sure to continue reading:

  • Nice and Snug. You will want your shoes to fit snugly! After all, you wouldn’t want to be slipping around within them out on the dance floor. However, you don’t want them too tight either, so ensure that they aren’t presenting any excessive pressure. Overall, you will want your shoes to fit like a glove.
  • Open & Close-Toed. If you are taking part in Latin and rhythm dances, such as the Salsa or Rumba, open-toed shoes would be best, as you will be pointing your toes more as well as articulating your feet. However, for more smooth and standard dances, such as the Waltz or the Foxtrot, you will want to invest in close-toed shoes.
  • Heel Height. For dance styles such as ballroom or Latin, women generally like to wear heels. If this is the case, you will want to present a heel height of about 1.5” to 3”. In addition, know that a flared heel is a great choice for showcasing stability. For men, a 1” heel height is ideal for ballroom dance styles, while a 1.5” height is best for Cuban dance styles.

Your feet deserve to experience nothing but comfort while out on the dance floor! These are just a few tips to assist you with choosing the best shoes for your own dance classes.
